Iran Claims Attack On Netanyahu Office, Israel Denies Any Strike On Jerusalem

Iran and Israel exchanged fresh claims and denials on Monday as the fast-spreading regional conflict entered a new phase, with Tehran asserting it had struck high-value Israeli targets while Israeli officials rejected one of its most dramatic allegations.

Iran conducted new missile strikes on Israeli targets, including Prime Minister Netanyahu's office in Tel Aviv, escalating the conflict after the killing of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The Islamic Revolutionary Guards Corps claimed responsibility, using Kheibar missiles and targeting military infrastructure in multiple cities and Jerusalem, while Israel confirmed incoming projectiles and activated its air defence.

The developments come two days after the killing of Iran's supreme leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei in US-Israeli strikes triggered open warfare across West Asia.

Iran says PM's office among targets

Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) announced that it launched a coordinated missile attack on multiple locations in Israel, including what it described as the office of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in Tel Aviv along with military and security facilities in Haifa and east Jerusalem.

"The office of the criminal prime minister of the Zionist regime and the headquarters of the regime's air force commander were targeted," the Guards said in a statement carried by Fars news agency.

Iran said Kheibar missiles were used in the operation. Shortly afterwards, AFP journalists reported fresh explosions over Jerusalem, while sirens sounded in several parts of Israel.

"A short while ago, the IDF identified missiles launched from Iran toward the territory of the State of Israel. Defensive systems are operating to intercept the threat," the Israeli military said.

Israel rejects the claim

Israel denied that the prime minister's office had been hit, according to TASS which cited a source familiar with the matter. Officials said air defence systems intercepted incoming projectiles and no such strike on Netanyahu's office had taken place.

The denial highlighted the information war running alongside the military confrontation, with both sides issuing competing narratives about battlefield damage and successes.

International concern grows

The violence drew sharp international reaction after strikes extended beyond Israel and Iran. A British air base in Cyprus and a Saudi oil installation were hit during the escalation, prompting calls for restraint from European leaders.

European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen condemned Tehran's actions.

"reckless and indiscriminate attacks by Iran and its proxies against sovereign territories across the region,"

"We must work hard to de-escalate and stop the conflict spreading," she told reporters in Brussels, warning "the stability of the region is of the utmost importance."

War spreads across the Gulf

The confrontation has widened rapidly across the Gulf. Explosions were reported in Dubai, Bahrain and Iraq, while black smoke rose near the US embassy compound in Kuwait after nearby strikes. A US base and a power station were also targeted in Kuwait in what officials described as the country's most serious military emergency in decades.

The embassy issued a public warning.

"There is a continuing threat of missile and UAV (drone) attacks over Kuwait. Do not come to the embassy,"

"US embassy personnel are sheltering in place."

Iranian authorities say at least 555 people inside Iran have been killed since the US-Israeli campaign began. Gulf officials confirmed five deaths from retaliatory attacks, including one person in Kuwait.

With missiles, drones and air strikes now reported across several countries, the crisis has expanded beyond a direct Iran-Israel confrontation into a broader regional war, raising fears of prolonged instability in West Asia.
