Indian Origin Canadian Lawmaker Jagmeet Singh Vows To Seek Justice For Khalistani Terrorist

Amid the ongoing tensions between India and Canada, Indian-origin Canadian lawmaker Jagmeet Singh on Monday pledged to seek justice for Khalistani terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar who was killed in June outside a Gurudwara in Canada's Surrey.

Accusing the Indian Government for the death of the Khalistani terrorist, Singh tweeted, "Today we learned of allegations that agents of the Indian Government murdered Hardeep Singh Nijjar - a Canadian killed on Canadian soil. I will leave no stone unturned in the pursuit of justice, including holding Narendra Modi accountable."

Soon after users on platform X started pouring in their reactions. Some users wrote, Jagmeet Singh had hidden a reply to his post that read "Just don't ask me to go to India". Another user said, "Jagmeet Singh isn't allowed in India due to his connections to Khalistani extremists."

Another user wrote, "Liberal and NDP "diplomacy" in 2023: shoot first and do the investigation later. Justin Trudeau and Jagmeet Singh are both openly going after the Prime Minister of India. What if they are wrong? Is the "investigation" now tainted as to the "findings"? Seems very unusual," another user posted.

Singh's remarks came just after Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau made allegations of Indian government's involvement in a Khalistani leader's murder. However, India rejected the claims by describing them as 'absurd' and 'motivated'.

Earlier today, Canadian Foreign Minister Melanie Joly confirmed the expulsion of "a senior Indian diplomat," following which India also expelled a Canadian diplomat. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) further asked a Canadian diplomat to depart from India within the next five days.

Trudeau's Liberal Party's minority government depends on the support of the New Democratic Party (NDP) led by Jagmeet Singh.

Singh was seen supporting Khalistani separatists on several occasions. He had also spoken against the police crackdown on Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh who was convicted in Punjab in April.
