Washington, Jan 28: US President Donald Trump just had an embarrassing loss of face as he had to give in to end the month-long shutdown of the country's government that happened over the Congress's resistance to his much sought-after wall along the Mexico border.

The defeat, even if temporary, has boosted Trump's critics including Pete Souza, a former White House photographer who worked under Barack Obama, the immediate predecessor to the current president.

Souza, 64, has also come up with a unique way to carry out a campaign against Trump. It doesn't require stern posts, marches and movements on the street or pointed speeches but only following a tortoise.

Yes, you heard it right.

Souza has used his pet tortoise Charlotte to run an entire campaign against Trump and the animal has become a symbol of resistance against the Republican president, the Washingtoanian came up with a report (https://www.washingtonian.com/2019/01/25/meet-pete-souza-instagram-famous-tortoise-charlotte/).

Charlotte has an Instagram account (@charlottethetortoise) with over 22,000 followers which is run by Souza and Souza wisely uses by just clicking her photographs and captioning it with suitable words to contrast the current Trump administration with that of Obama (2009-17) to make an impact among people.

Not a word spoken, yet a lot is being said.

Here are some posts Souza has posted on Charlotte's Instagram account:

Charlotte came into the scene the day Trump won the presidency. A creative Souza posted a picture of his pet poking her head through an opening in the cardboard box where she stays.

"Charlotte just woke up. Should I tell her?" Souza wrote. The reaction to the humour was huge, the Washingtonian reported.

Souza then made it a routine affair to post Facebook photos and videos of the tortoise and as they went on to become popular and it reached the height when Souza started posting her photos regularly on his Instagram account which has 2 million followers.

Souza was then suggested to open an account for Charlotte and he did and it just went on from there.
