Court confirms Malaysian opposition leader guilty of sodomy
Kuala Lumpur, Feb 10: A top court on Tuesday upheld the conviction of Anwar Ibrahim, Malaysia's Leader of the Opposition, of sodomising his former aide.
Anwar, 67, was sentenced to five years' jail on March 7, 2014 by the Court of Appeal for sodomising his former aide Mohd Saiful Bukhari, 30, June 26, 2008, overturning an acquittal by the Kuala Lumpur High Court Jan 9, 2012, Xinhua reported.

In his appeal, Anwar asked the Federal Court to set aside the conviction and sentence imposed by the Court of Appeal.
A five-member Federal Court bench upheld the Court of Appeal verdict.
Sodomy is illegal in Muslim-majority Malaysia, but very few people are prosecuted.
