According to a report in the Shanghai Daily, pilots who fly to and from China's top 10 airports have to appear for level-2 "blind landing" test from Jan 1.

The level-2 test makes the pilots qualified for landing at runways with a visibility lower than 400 metres and cloud cover lower than 80 metres. Usually, pilots can land or takeoff when the visibility is 800 metres, the report said.

"The blind landing qualification will help in avoiding delays even in bad weather conditions," the report quoted an official with the civil aviation administration of China as saying Wednesday.
