Biden to Trump: Respect Justice System, Rejects 'Rigged' Trial Claims
In a significant development, US President Joe Biden urged former President Donald Trump to uphold the integrity of the justice system following a jury's verdict that found Trump guilty on multiple charges. In a statement made on Friday, Biden addressed the outcome of the trial where Trump faced 34 counts of falsifying business records, marking a pivotal moment in legal proceedings against the former president.

Biden emphasized the fairness of the trial, highlighting that Trump had been afforded every chance to defend himself. "Donald Trump was given every opportunity to defend himself …it was heard by a jury of 12 citizens, 12 Americans tell people like you and millions of Americans who serve on juries. This jury has chosen the same way every jury in America has chosen. After careful deliberation, the jury reached a unanimous verdict. They found Donald Trump guilty on all 34 felony charges. Now he has been given the opportunity and he should appeal that decision just like everyone else has an opportunity. That’s how the American system of justice works," Biden articulated.
The president's remarks came in response to Trump's criticism of the trial's outcome. Trump had previously lambasted the trial as "unfair" and "rigged," casting aspersions on the judicial process. "It is reckless, it’s dangerous, it’s irresponsible for anyone to say this was rigged just because they don’t like the verdict," Biden countered during his address to reporters at the White House.
Biden's comments underscored a call for respect towards the judicial system and cautioned against undermining its credibility. "Our justice system should be respected and we should never allow anyone to tear it down, it’s as simple as that," he stated, reinforcing the importance of upholding legal principles.
Trump, on his part, had voiced his discontent with the trial proceedings earlier in New York. He described his experience in court as highly prejudicial. "As far as the trial itself, it was very unfair. You saw what happened to some of the witnesses that were on our side. They were literally crucified by this man, who looks like an angel, but he’s really a devil," Trump told reporters, expressing his dissatisfaction with how the trial was conducted and its impact on his defense witnesses.
This legal confrontation between Biden and Trump highlights ongoing tensions and divergent views on the justice system's role and integrity in political discourse. As these events continue to unfold, they underscore the complexities of legal and political challenges facing leaders in the United States.
