Kolkata, June 6: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached Dhaka on Friday evening, a day before Prime Minister Narendra Modi's arrival. [Follow PM Modi's Bangladesh visit]

Banerjee's flight, which flew in from Kolkata, was given a special treatment by the Bangladeshi authorities, according to a report published in Bengali daily Anandabazaar Patrika. Banerjee and her team checked into Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel while PM Modi was a guest at Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka Hotel. According to the ABP report, the West Bengal chief minister was requested to stay in the same hotel where the Indian prime ministerhas checked in but she did not want to leave behind his team. Banerjee is scheduled to return to Kolkata on Saturday night but the event of the day could continue till the late hours. She was requested by Bangladeshi PM Sheikh Hasina to extend her stay by another day, the ABP report said. She assured her of looking into it but nothing was known about the final decision, the report said.
