After 17 days in theatres, Cocktail 2 has minted ₹92.55 crore at the domestic box office. While it enjoyed a powerhouse opening week-raking in ₹70.50 crore, the collection have witnessed a massive drop.

Though the film is currently battling a severe screen crunch due to major new tentpole releases, industry insiders suggest the real culprit is weak word-of-mouth. Mixed audience reception has made it incredibly difficult for the sequel to sustain momentum against heavy competition.

A Quiet Third Weekend
The film's third weekend started on a muted note, bringing in just ₹0.75 crore on Friday. True to the nature of urban comedies, it saw a healthy 53% bounce on Saturday to earn ₹1.15 crore, followed by a minor 8.7% bump on Sunday to pocket ₹1.25 crore, according to Sacnilk data.

This brings its third-weekend haul to a modest ₹3.15 crore. Cumulatively, the film's gross domestic earnings stand at ₹110.35 crore across more than 101,000 shows nationwide.

Unlike the 2012 original, which starred Saif Ali Khan, Deepika Padukone, and Diana Penty, this spiritual sequel takes a fresh approach. Rather than replicating the dynamic of the original cult classic, the new trio-Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon, and Rashmika Mandanna-bring their own distinct energy to the screen.

Cocktail 2 follows Kunal (Kapoor) and Diya (Sanon), a couple cohabiting for a decade, who jet off to Italy to escape mounting family pressure to marry. The plot takes a chaotic turn when a deeply insecure Diya asks her carefree friend, Ally (Mandanna), to "test" Kunal's loyalty. Naturally, things go awry, forcing the characters to choose between the comfort of long-term love and the fleeting excitement of a new romance.

While the producers have yet to lock in an exact OTT release date, standard Bollywood windowing usually sees titles hit streaming platforms six to eight weeks after their cinema debut. Given its slowing box office momentum, an early digital arrival wouldn't be surprising.
