Efforts Underway to Ensure No Coal Shortage in India, Says Union Minister Kishan Reddy

In a recent statement in Delhi, the newly appointed Union Coal and Mines Minister, G Kishan Reddy, emphasized his commitment to ensuring that India does not face a coal shortage. Reddy, who took over the ministries on Monday, highlighted the critical role of coal in India's development trajectory and outlined his immediate plans to engage with officials for crafting a strategic action plan for his departments, focusing on the first 100 days.

No Coal Shortage, Vows Minister

Reddy pointed out the significant improvements in the country's power sector since Narendra Modi assumed the role of Prime Minister. According to him, the era of power cuts, primarily attributed to the scarcity and inadequate supply of coal, has been effectively addressed under Modi's leadership. The minister credited increased coal production and enhanced power and grid connectivity across states as pivotal measures that have contributed to a new India, one without power cuts.

The Union Minister also shared his vision for further augmenting coal production to prevent any potential shortages in the future. His remarks were made against the backdrop of his recent induction into the Union Cabinet for a fresh term, where he previously managed the portfolios of tourism and culture.

Additionally, Reddy, who also serves as the president of the BJP in Telangana, mentioned Prime Minister Modi's scheduled attendance at the swearing-in ceremony of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu as Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister on June 12. This announcement comes following Reddy's re-election to the Lok Sabha from the Secunderabad constituency in the recent polls.

The minister's statements reflect a broader governmental agenda aimed at strengthening India's energy sector through increased coal production and improved infrastructure. As India continues on its path of development, ensuring an uninterrupted supply of coal is seen as a key priority for the new Union Coal and Mines Minister.
