2 militants killed in Kashmir gunfights

Srinagar, May 17: At least two militants were killed by security forces in two separate gunfights in Kashmir on Tuesday.

"Security forces launched an operation against hiding militants in Pahlipora village of Shopian district during the night," a senior police official told IANS here.

One militant was killed in encounter while searches were still on, the official said.

"Another encounter started between the security forces and militants in Zonrishipora (Chowkibal) village of Kupwara district on Tuesday morning," he said.

One militant has been killed in the operation so far, the official said.
