TMC targets Amit Shah by not allowing him to speak in RS on MSP
New Delhi, Aug 7: Trinamool Congress (TMC) has targeted Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah for the aggressive posturing in support of National Register for Citizenship (NRC). The party has targeted Shah during a debate in the house on minimum support price (MSP) leading to the adjournment of the Upper House.

Amit Shah was speaking on the issue of MSP as allowed by the Chairman. Several other leaders from many other political parties were supposed to speak on the issue however the Congress came out in support the TMC that their demands should also be met.
The chairman allowed debate on MSP on August 7, 2018 on the notice of Shah while debate on the issue of Silchar incidence was allowed for August 8. Shah even started his speech and barely 5-6 minets had gone by when uproar was started by the TMC MPs. When the Chair started taking name and said that MPS will be suspended, the Congress too joined the TMC and the house was adjourned initially for around 10 minets and later 20 minets and debate could not be completed.
From the BJP, leaders like Bhupendra Yadav, Anil Jain and Amar Shanker Sable were to participate in the debate. From opposition Prasanna Acharya, Bhaskar Rao Nekkanti and Pratab Keshri Deb from Biju Janata Dal, Manoj Jha of Rashtriya Janata Dal and V Vijay Sai Reddy of YSR Congress were the leaders to participate in the debate. The house was adjourned for the second time amid chaos.
When minister of state for parliamentary affairs intervened that what should be done, the Congress leader in the Rajya Sabha Anand Sharma supported the cause of TMC while other leaders like RJD appeared non-committal. The BJP leaders were of the view that TMC wants to target the BJP president by such gimmicks but it will come to them as the party president was taking up the issue of farmers. Rajya Sabha chairman had already given them time to debate they wanted it today.
However, the Congress leaders found the issue of TMC equally important so the TMC members in the Rajya Sabha did not allow Bharatiya Janata Party chief Amit Shah to speak leading to adjournment of the house.
