TDP, YSR Congress leaders clash in Nandyal a day after bypoll, shots fired
The results of Nandyal bypolls will be declared on August 28
A day after bypolls, leaders of TDP and YSR Congress clashed in Nandyal in the presence of police and public. What started as a minor incident of road rage led to violent clashes that even saw shots being fired in the air. Section 144 has been imposed in the locality.
Family members of Jagan Mohan Reddy's YSR Congress party candidate Silpa Mohan Reddy were accused of attempting to assault TDP leader and Bhumi family member Abhiruchi Madhu on Thursday. Clashes erupted after the two groups engaged in an argument when their cars came face to face in Nandyal. Both parties refused to make way for the other leading to an argument that blew out into a full-fledged clash.
TDP leader Madhu's gunman is said to have fired in the air when YSR Congress leaders attempted to assault Madhu. Stones were pelted at each other's cars and the situation turned volatile even as the police, media and public stood witness. Police resorted to lathi charge to disperse the crowds and bring the situation under control. TDP leader Madhu was escorted to the police station after he decided to file a complaint against Silpa Mohan Reddy's supporters for assaulting him.
