Sri Lankan court orders release of 3 fishermen
Rameswaram, Apr 13: A Sri Lankan court on Tuesday ordered the release of three fishermen, hailing from Thanjavur district, who were arrested by the Lankan Navy on January 19, a senior functionary of a fishermen organisation on Tuesday said.
The fisherman were arrested for allegedly fishing in Lankan waters and pelting stones on the Navy personnel, Rameswaram fishermen organisation President P Sesuraja said.

They were lodged in Jaffna prison. When they were produced, Oorkavalthurai court magistrate M.M Riyas ordered their release.
The fisherman were handedover to Consulate General of India, Jaffna. They would be sent by either flight or ship from there, Sesuraja added.
