Renowned novelist Samaresh Majumdar passes away

Eminent Bengali litterateur and Sahitya Akademi Award winner Samaresh Majumdar passed away on Monday at a hospital in Kolkata. He was 79.

Majumdar was known for his works of fiction that have captivated readers for decades. Born in West Bengal, India in 1942, Majumdar was one of the most respected writers of contemporary Bengali literature, with a large and loyal following in both India and Bangladesh.
