Rajinikanth fan escapes hospital to watch 'Lingaa', found dead in theater

Coimbatore, Dec 27: A critically ailing fan of Rajnikanth escaped a government hospital to watch his favourite star's newly-released film-Lingaa. Tragically, he was found dead in his seat with the intravenous drip-tube intact.

56-year-old Rajendran, hailing from Chettipalayam in the city, was undergoing treatment for kidney cancer and was on an intravenous drip for the last few days. Being an ardent Rajnikanth fan, he was hell-bent for watching the movie but was not allowed to go due to strict vigil. However, he made up his mind and gave the security staff a slip and bought a ticket at a theater close to the Railway Station, which is a kilometer away from the hospital.

A newspaper report said that the manager of the theater saw the ailing man having a popcorn and soft drink and enjoying the movie. However, after the movie, the theater staff found him lying dead on his seat. The police recovered the body and sent him to hospital. When contacted, an hospital staff said that the authorities are verifying the records to confirm whether the deceased was a patient there.
