Modi reached Dhaka in an Indian Air Force aircraft for a two-day visit and was received at the airport by his Bangladeshi counterpart Sheikh Hasina. [What Bangladeshi media said about Modi's visit]
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee reached the Bangladeshi capital ahead of Modi's arrival.
The visit is important for it will see signing of the Land Boundary Agreement between the two countries. However, the long-pending Teesta water-sharing treaty will not be signed during this visit by the Indian prime minister, External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj said last month.
