Mumbai Fire Horror: Basement Blaze Claims Life

A tragic incident occurred in Mumbai's Santacruz area on Thursday, January 25, when a fire erupted in the basement of a six-storey commercial building, resulting in the unfortunate death of a 45-year-old woman.

Fire Extinguished After Containment

The fire was successfully extinguished at 8:45 pm, approximately an hour after it was completely contained by fire brigade officials. Initial reports indicated that no injuries were sustained, and the building was believed to have five storeys. However, subsequent information revealed that the building actually has six floors.

Rescue Efforts and Tragic Outcome

According to eyewitnesses, two women were trapped inside the building, Dheeraj Heritage, located on S V Road near Milan Subway in the western suburb, when the fire broke out around 5 pm. One of the women was rescued and rushed to the civic-run Cooper Hospital, where she was sadly pronounced dead on arrival by doctors. The deceased woman has been identified as Tara Chiman Waghela.

Mobilization of Resources

To effectively combat the fire, at least eight fire engines and other fire brigade vehicles were promptly deployed to the scene. In addition to the fire brigade, various agencies collaborated in the response efforts, including the Mumbai police, Adani Power, local civic ward staff, and an ambulance.

Investigation Underway

The cause of the fire is currently under investigation by the authorities. A thorough probe is being conducted to determine the origin and circumstances surrounding the incident.

This tragic incident serves as a reminder of the importance of fire safety measures and preparedness in commercial buildings. The loss of life in this fire highlights the need for stringent regulations and regular safety inspections to prevent such unfortunate events from occurring in the future.
