Prime Minister Narendra Modi will celebrate his birthday in Gujarat this year. Modi will be in Gujarat on September 17, the day of his birthday and will dedicate the Narmada dam to the people of the state.
Modi is also expected to accompany his Japanese counter Sizo Abe who is visiting Gujarat on a three visit starting September 13 onwards. Modi and Abe will participate in various events, including the inauguration of another Japanese industrial park, stone-laying of a bullet train project, an international Buddhist festival among others.
The visit is significant considering the Gujarat assembly elections are being held this year. The model code of conduct will be place in Gujarat in October. The elections would be keenly watched as it is for the first time that the state is going to polls after Modi became PM.
