Mayawati Attributes Bahujan Samaj Party Loss to Jat Community's Casteist Mindset in Haryana Elections

The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati criticised the Jat community's caste-based mindset in Haryana for the party's poor performance in the recent assembly elections. The BSP had formed an alliance with the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) for these elections. Despite their efforts, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) secured a third consecutive victory, winning 48 seats.

Mayawati Blames Jat Casteism for Election Loss

According to the Election Commission, the Congress won 37 seats, while INLD managed only two. Three seats were claimed by Independent candidates. The BSP received a vote share of 1.82%, and its ally INLD garnered 4.14%. Mayawati expressed her views on social media platform X, stating that the Jat community's casteist attitude led to BSP candidates losing some seats by narrow margins.

Mayawati's Advice to Jat Community

Mayawati urged the Jat community in Haryana to change their casteist mentality, similar to their counterparts in Uttar Pradesh. She highlighted that in UP, members of the Jat community have become MLAs and ministers from the BSP. "The people of the Jat community of Haryana should also follow their footsteps and change their casteist mentality," she advised.

In her message, Mayawati thanked BSP members for their dedication during the elections. She assured them that their efforts would not be wasted and encouraged them to remain hopeful. "People should not be disappointed nor lose hope. But they should be ready to make their own path," she added.

Mayawati's comments reflect her disappointment with the election results but also her determination to continue striving for change. Her call for a shift in mindset among Haryana's Jat community underscores her belief in overcoming caste-based barriers for political success.
