The deceased, identified as Pradeep, took this extreme step due to alleged inaction by the police in filing a case of harassment against his wife.

Allegations of Police Inaction

According to Pradeep's family members, his wife had filed a complaint of domestic violence against him a few days prior to the incident. However, they claimed that the police had not taken any action on Pradeep's complaint regarding harassment by his wife.

Visit to SP's Office and Residence

On Saturday morning, Pradeep visited the SP's office with the intention of filing a complaint against his wife. However, the SP was not present at the office. Determined to seek justice, Pradeep proceeded to the SP's residence.

Consuming Poison and Hospitalization

In a desperate act, Pradeep consumed poison outside the SP's residence. Upon witnessing this, the staff at the residence rushed him to a hospital. Despite their efforts, Pradeep succumbed to the effects of the poison while en route to a hospital in the nearby Bareilly district.

Police Response and Further Action

Superintendent of Police Atul Sharma confirmed the incident and stated that Pradeep was taken to the hospital by the staff. He assured that the matter was being looked into.

Circle Officer Deepak Chaturvedi informed the media that Pradeep passed away on the way to the hospital. He added that the post-mortem of the body would be conducted in Bareilly. The police have indicated that further action will be taken once Pradeep's family members file a complaint.

The incident highlights the importance of prompt and impartial action by law enforcement agencies in addressing complaints of harassment and domestic violence.
