The Department of Persian has experienced the highest increase, with fees rising by 41.41 per cent from Rs 6,700 to Rs 9,475 annually. The Department of Arabic follows closely with a 37.15 per cent hike, increasing fees from Rs 7,200 to Rs 9,875 per year. Social sciences courses have not been spared either. Programmes such as MA and BA Hons in Political Science, along with the four-year BA Multidisciplinary and B Com Hons, now cost Rs 9,875 annually. This reflects a 32.99 per cent increase from the previous fee of Rs 7,425.

Science and Professional Courses

Science programmes including BSc Multidisciplinary, Geography, Mathematics, and Physics have undergone a fee hike of 34.29 per cent. The annual fees for these courses have increased from Rs 7,800 to Rs 10,475. Professional courses have also seen an increase; B Tech programmes now cost Rs 19,225 per year after a 19.04 per cent rise from Rs 16,150.

M Tech programmes have witnessed a fee increase of 16.48 per cent, bringing the annual cost to Rs 21,375. Law courses such as LLM regular and BA LLB Hons have experienced a 19 per cent rise in fees, now costing Rs 17,850 annually compared to the previous Rs 15,000.

New Courses and Admission Changes

In addition to the fee hikes, JMI has introduced 14 new courses this year. The university has also expanded its use of Common University Entrance Test (CUET) scores for admissions. This year, CUET merit will be used for admission into 25 programmes—an increase from last year's 20.

The new admissions process includes nine undergraduate courses, five postgraduate courses, eight diploma courses, and three advanced diploma courses based on CUET scores.

With all these changes in place, students at JMI are likely to face increased financial burdens due to the higher tuition fees across various programmes.
