Even SC has accepted that privacy is a fundamental right, but its not an absolute right,it has to be fitted somewhere.
Reacting to Supreme Court verdict on Right to privacy, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley reiterated government's stand that always had a clear stand on privacy.
Jaitley said, ''The Government always had a clear stand on privacy.''
Echoing Law Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad's statement on Aadhaar, Jaitley said, '' UPA brought about Aadhaar without a law, without safeguards for data, therefore the challenge was there.''
''Even SC has accepted that privacy is a fundamental right, but its not an absolute right,it has to be fitted somewhere,'' he added.
He further said that SC says prima facie it could be fitted into article 21, in some cases article 19, therefore subjected to restrictions of those.
Its positive development, as evolution of constitutional law goes on there is always an effort to strengthen fundamental rights.
