J&K: Terror Aides Caught With Weapons In Joint Operation In Shopian
Two terrorist affiliates were taken into custody by security personnel on Thursday during a coordinated operation in the Shopian area of Jammu and Kashmir, marking a significant milestone. Official sources claim that the suspects were found in possession of firearms and ammunition.
The arrests were made during a coordinated effort by the Indian Army's 44 Rashtriya Rifles, the Jammu and Kashmir Police, and the 178 Battalion of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF). The operation took place in the Baskuchan area of Imam Sahib in Shopian.

This action comes amid a heightened security alert across the Kashmir Valley, following a recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam that resulted in the deaths of several tourists. In response, authorities have intensified patrolling, ramped up surveillance, and deployed additional security forces in sensitive regions to ensure the safety of both residents and visitors.
In a separate earlier operation on May 19, two more terrorist associates were apprehended by the Indian Army's 34 Rashtriya Rifles, the Special Operations Group (SOG) of Shopian, and CRPF's 178 Battalion in the DK Pora area of the district. That operation led to the seizure of two pistols, four grenades, 43 live rounds, and other incriminating materials. An FIR has been filed, and investigations are ongoing.
According to the Shopian Police, these successful operations reflect the high level of vigilance, coordination, and operational capability of the joint security forces. Authorities believe that the timely arrests may have prevented a major security incident in the region.
