Give free bus ride to stranded people in Chennai to return to native places: Madras HC

Madurai, Dec 4: The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Friday directed Tamil Nadu government to take steps to enable the people stranded in Chennai due to floods to go to their native places in buses free of cost.

Justice V.Ramasubramanian and Justice N.Kirubakaran were hearing an oral mention made by advocates Muthukrishnan and Rajagopalan who said that people were struggling to go their native places and it had become very expensive to go to other places.

The Additional Advocate General pointed out that a high-level meeting was already going on at Chennai and the Transport Secretary had made a suggestion to move the people in buses free of cost.

The government was already seized of the matter, he added.

The advocates said the people who wanted to go to Erode, Karur and other places were stranded in Koyambedu central bus stand at Chennai without any money and arrangements should be made to transport them free of cost.
