Chennai Rains: Special train services for stranded passengers

Coimbatore, Dec 4: With a view to provide assistance to the stranded passengers due to the incessant rain and flood in Chennai and its surrounding areas, Southern Railway is operating special train services between Mangaluru (Karnataka) and Arakkonam (Tamil Nadu).

The special train will leave Mangaluru Central at 8 PM today and reach Arakkonam Junction at 10.30 AM tomorrow, a railway spokesperson said.

Similarly, a special train will leave Arakkonam Junction at 12.00 noon on 5 December and arrive at Mangaluru Central at 02.30 AM the next day.

Both the trains will stop at Kasaragod, Kannur,Kozhikode, Shoranur Jn., Palakkad Jn., Coimbatore Jn., Erode Jn., Salem Jn., Jolarpettai Jn. and Katpadi Jn, as the passengers can take maximum use.

Special trains from Tirunelveli, Rameswaram to Chennai

As a relatively dry spell brought relief to the rain-hit residents of Tamil Nadu, the authorities announced that special passenger trains will run from Tirunelveli and Rameswaram to Chennai Beach today.

Special passenger trains from Tirunelveli and Rameswaram to Chennai Beach will be operated on December 4, an official release said.

Tirunelveli-Chennai train will leave Tirunelveli at 20.00 hrs on December 4 and reach Chennai Beach at 11.00 hrs next day.

Rameswaram to Chennai Beach train will leave Rameswaram at 21:00hrs on December 4 and reach the Beach the next day, it said.

Passenger Special from Chennai Beach to Tirunelveli will leave Chennai Beach at 12.30 hrs on December 5 and reach Tirunelveli at 01.30 hrs on December 6.

The Special train from Chennai Beach to Rameswaram will leave Chennai Beach at 12.30 hrs on December 5 and reach Rameswaram at 23.45 hrs on December 6, the release added.
