Chirag Paswan Revives Lok Janshakti Party With Major Bihar Election Victory

Chirag Paswan successfully revived the Lok Janshakti Party, winning 19 out of 29 seats in Bihar's assembly elections. This victory solidifies the NDA's dominance and reflects Paswan's commitment to his father's legacy.

Union Minister Chirag Paswan expressed pride in reviving the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) after it was nearly dismissed in 2020. The party achieved a significant victory, winning 19 out of 29 seats contested in Bihar, contributing to the NDA's sweeping assembly win.

Reflecting on past challenges, Paswan recalled how many had written off his political career by 2020. However, he was determined to resurrect the party, drawing inspiration from his father’s legacy. He emphasized that neither he nor his father ever accepted defeat.

Party's Resurgence and Achievements

The Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) has regained its strength under Chirag Paswan's leadership. He proudly stated that the party has reached a stage envisioned by his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan. This marks the second-best performance since the party's inception in 2000.

Paswan highlighted a key milestone in 2005 when his father won 29 seats without any alliance. Although they couldn't form the government then, they made a comeback in 2014. He believes history often repeats itself.

Opposition Criticism and Future Plans

Chirag Paswan criticized opposition parties RJD and Congress for spreading false narratives about differences with Kumar's JD(U). He asserted that their alliance was strong and had increased their representation significantly over time.

In 2024, their alliance trusted them with five Lok Sabha seats, all of which they won. In the Vidhan Sabha elections, despite starting with zero MLAs, they were entrusted with 29 seats and delivered successfully.

NDA's Dominant Victory

The NDA secured a massive victory in Bihar, retaining power with 203 seats. This reaffirmed Prime Minister Narendra Modi's popularity and Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's appeal while dealing a severe blow to Congress and its ally RJD.

The BJP and JD(U), as main constituents of the NDA, performed exceptionally well by winning nearly 85% of the seats they contested. The alliance achieved a three-fourths majority in the Bihar assembly.

Bihar's Leadership Outlook

Regarding Bihar’s next Chief Minister, Chirag Paswan mentioned that as per constitutional mandates, MLAs would elect their leader. He expressed confidence that Nitish Kumar would assume office again as CM.

Earlier today, Paswan met Nitish Kumar at his residence to congratulate him on the NDA’s victory under his leadership. They discussed future plans for Bihar as government formation is set to take place soon.
