Ahead Of India Arrival, CJP's Abhijeet Dipke Asks Supporters To Skip Delhi Airport: 5 Reasons Why

Just two days before its planned protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) has altered a key part of its mobilisation strategy. Founder Abhijeet Dipke, who is scheduled to arrive in India from the United States on June 6, has now urged supporters not to gather at Delhi's Indira Gandhi International Airport to welcome him.

CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke urged supporters not to gather at Delhi Airport on June 6 for the planned NEET protest, citing concerns over public inconvenience and security, and will instead seek permission for the Jantar Mantar demonstration directly from police.

The decision marks a significant shift from the party's earlier appeal, which had invited supporters to receive Dipke upon his arrival ahead of the demonstration demanding Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan's resignation over the NEET paper leak controversy.

Massive Response Prompted a Change in Plans

According to the party, the scale of public interest in the airport gathering exceeded all expectations.

In a post on X, CJP said, "The overwhelming response from those who want the resignation of Dharmendra Pradhan to our call to join us at Delhi Airport was beyond our imagination."

The unexpectedly large turnout anticipated by the party became one of the primary reasons behind the decision to cancel the airport gathering.

Concern Over Public Inconvenience and Security Issues

The party said accommodating a large number of supporters at one of the country's busiest airports would not be practical.

"It is not feasible for so many people to assemble at the airport as it would cause inconvenience to the public and the security forces. So please do not come to Delhi airport," the party said.

With thousands of travellers expected at the airport, CJP said it wanted to avoid disrupting normal operations or creating additional pressure on security personnel.

Dipke Wants the Movement to Remain Peaceful

In a video attached to the party's statement, Dipke said the leadership reconsidered its plans after realising the extent of the response.

"We don't want to create any kind of inconvenience to people or to the security forces," he said.

The party also appealed to supporters to conduct themselves peacefully and avoid any actions that could overshadow the protest's message.

Avoiding Any Opportunity for Critics

Dipke stressed that the campaign should remain lawful and disciplined, warning supporters against giving opponents a reason to attack the movement.

"We are law-abiding citizens," he said.

He further stated that opponents were looking for an opportunity to "dismiss" or "defame" the campaign and urged supporters not to provide such an opening through any disorderly conduct.

Focus Shifts to Securing Permission for the Protest

Instead of heading into a public reception at the airport, Dipke is now expected to proceed directly to Parliament Street Police Station after landing in Delhi.

The move comes amid uncertainty over police permission for the June 6 protest at Jantar Mantar. Newly appointed CJP spokesperson Vijeta Dahiya described the decision as part of the organisation's broader strategy.

"People's emotion is driving the protest, and currently they are attached with Abhijeet (Dipke), that's why we have taken a call that Abhijeet will seek permission from the police in person on June 6," said Vijeta.

The spokesperson added that the party remained "optimistic that the authorities will grant the CJP the required clearance to hold the peaceful demonstration."

CJP had earlier announced that Dipke would personally seek approval from authorities after arriving in Delhi. With the airport gathering now called off, the focus has shifted entirely to obtaining permission and preparing for the proposed protest at Jantar Mantar.
