Hyderabad, Telangana Set For Week Of Rain; IMD Warns Of Heavy Showers From June 18

Residents across Telangana may need to keep umbrellas handy over the coming week, with the India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting widespread rainfall activity across the state until June 21. While thunderstorms and gusty weather are expected over the next few days, heavier rainfall is likely to set in from June 18 onwards.

Yellow Alert in Place Across Telangana

In anticipation of changing weather conditions, IMD Hyderabad has issued a yellow alert for the state. The alert will remain in force until Sunday, June 21, as several districts are expected to experience rain-related weather activity.

According to the weather department, thunderstorms accompanied by lightning and squally winds are likely in many parts of Telangana through June 17. After that, rainfall intensity is expected to increase, with heavy showers forecast between June 18 and June 21.

Weather Expert Predicts Stronger Rainfall After June 18

Echoing the IMD forecast, weather enthusiast T. Balaji, who is known for regularly sharing weather updates on social media, said Hyderabad is likely to witness scattered rainfall over the next three days.

Sharing his assessment on X, Balaji stated that the city could receive significantly better rainfall after June 18. He also predicted that northern and eastern regions of Telangana are likely to witness intense thunderstorm activity in the coming days.

Hyderabad Likely to See Showers and Gusty Winds

For Hyderabad, IMD has forecast light to moderate rain or thundershowers accompanied by gusty winds until June 17. The city is expected to remain under the influence of unstable weather conditions as moisture levels increase across the region.

Authorities have advised residents to stay updated on weather forecasts and factor possible rain-related disruptions into their travel plans over the next week.

Temperatures Remain High Despite Recent Rain

Although several districts in Telangana have received rainfall in recent days, temperatures continue to remain elevated in many areas.

Data released by the Telangana Development Planning Society (TGDPS) showed that Peddapalli district recorded the state's highest maximum temperature of 42.5 degrees Celsius on Sunday. In Hyderabad, Nampally registered the highest temperature at 37.7 degrees Celsius.

With heavy rainfall expected later this week, weather conditions are likely to undergo a noticeable shift, offering some relief from the prevailing heat across parts of the state.
