Yuzvendra Chahal And Dhanashree Verma Attend Divorce Proceedings, Avoid Paparazzi

The Bombay High Court has fast-tracked the divorce proceedings between cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and Dhanashree Verma by waiving the mandatory six-month cooling-off period. This decision allows them to finalize their separation before the Indian Premier League (IPL) kicks off on March 23. The final hearing is set for March 20, just days ahead of the tournament, signaling the urgency to wrap up the matter quickly.

The court granted the waiver after considering that Chahal and Verma have been living separately for over two and a half years. Since their decision to part ways is mutual, they were allowed to bypass the usual waiting period required under Section 13B of the Hindu Marriage Act. Chahal was recently spotted at the Bandra family court, covering his face with a hood and mask, reflecting the private nature of the proceedings.

The case has now reached a crucial stage, with the Bombay High Court directing the Bandra family court to conclude the process by May 20. This timeline is particularly significant for Chahal, who will be busy with his commitments as a Rajasthan Royals player in the upcoming IPL 2025 season. The court appears to have taken his professional obligations into account while expediting the matter.

Financial Settlement in Divorce

As part of the settlement, Chahal has been ordered to pay Dhanashree a sum of Rs 4.75 crore. So far, he has already transferred Rs 2.37 crore. The financial aspect of their separation has drawn attention, with reports suggesting that Dhanashree had demanded around Rs 60 crore in alimony. However, her family strongly denied these claims, calling them false and misleading. In a statement, they said, "We are deeply upset by these baseless rumors. Let us be clear-no such amount has ever been demanded, offered, or accepted. These claims are completely untrue."

Both Chahal and Dhanashree have maintained a low profile throughout the proceedings, often seen arriving at court with their faces covered. Their body language suggests the emotional weight of the situation, as well as a desire to keep things private despite public curiosity.

With the final hearing approaching, all eyes will be on how the court rules on the remaining aspects of the settlement. Once the legal formalities are completed, both Chahal and Dhanashree will move forward separately, closing this chapter of their lives.
