TVK News: Vijay Likely To Contest From This Assembly Seat In 2026 Tamil Nadu Polls?
Almost a week after announcing his political entry with 'Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam', there is an update on the specific constituency he's contemplating for his candidacy.
The Tamil actor had clearly stated in his statement that he has no plans to contest in the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. The latest buzz is that Vijay is considering two constituencies to contest in the state elections.

As per the reports in the Tamil media, he will either contest from Thoothukudi or Nagapattinam.
The Thoothukudi district and Lok Sabha constituency in Tamil Nadu encompass several constituencies, namely Thoothukudi, Vilathikulam, Tiruchendur, Srivaikuntam, Ottapidaram, and Kovilpatti. It is important to note that Ottapidaram is a reserved constituency for the Scheduled Caste (SC).
Whereas the Nagapattinam district has the constituencies of Nagapattinam, Kilvelur, and Vedaranyam. Kilvelur is SC reserved for seat . In addition, the Thiruvarur district has constituencies such as Thiruthiraipoondi (also reserved for SC candidates), Thiruvarur, and Nannilam, all falling under the Nagapattinam Lok Sabha constituency.
The first-ever convention of 'Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam' is set to occur in Tirunelveli or Tuticorin (with Madurai also under consideration). Vijay plans to reveal the party's flag to the people at the inaugural conference.
Last week, Vijay announced that he was foraying into politics and announced his party names as 'Tamilaga Vetri Kazham'. In a statement, the actor has announced that his party will not be contesting in the Lok Sabha polls but rather in the next state assembly elections, as decided in the recent party meetings.
"I have decided to complete the film I have already committed to, without affecting the party work and completely involve myself in the politics of public service. I consider this as my gratitude towards the people of Tamil Nadu," Vijay stated.
The statement reads, "To my best, the Vijay Makkal Iyakkam has been doing a lot of public welfare activities for the past many years. But a lot of political changes cannot be made only through a non-profit organisation, a political power is needed. You all know the current political scenario. Wrongful administration and corrupt politics is on one hand, on the other hand is discriminative politics to divide our people. On two sides obstacles have been placed for our development and unity."
"All are carving for good politics, especially Tamil Nadu each people are carving for Selfless, truthful Politics with foresight and non corrupt government without caste - religion differences and with good administration. Very importantly, that Politics would be based on our Indian Constitution to apt with Tamil Nadu State rights and will be based on this soil 'By Birth all are same' ideology," the statement added.Vijay stated further that Tamil people are the ones who gave him everything and he wanted to give it back to them.
