AICWA Demands FIR Against Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Seeks ₹1 Crore After Crew Member's Death On Love & War Set
During the shoot of filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali's much-anticipated film Love & War, a crew member reportedly lost his life. As a result, the film has found itself surrounded by controversy. Following the incident, the All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has urged Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis to initiate strict action, including the registration of an FIR against all those responsible. The association has also demanded financial support for the family of the deceased worker.

AICWA Raises Concerns Over Set Safety
AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta wrote a letter to the Chief Minister expressing serious concerns regarding worker safety on the film's set. The association shared the letter across its social media platforms and questioned whether adequate safety precautions were in place at the time of the incident.
AICWA claims that the tragedy highlights the urgent need for stronger safety protocols in the film industry. The association argued that the incident could have been prevented if safety measures had been properly monitored and implemented.
Family Left Facing Financial Uncertainty
The deceased crew member, Chandradhari Singh Yadav, is survived by his wife and two young daughters. Yadav was the sole breadwinner of the family, and his death has left them facing emotional trauma and financial hardship.
Association Recalls Previous Incidents
In its appeal, AICWA stated that this is not the first such incident to occur on a Bhansali production set.
Gupta wrote, "This incident is not isolated. Over the years, several serious incidents have been reported on film sets associated with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali: During the production of Devdas (2000-2001), worker Dindayal Yadav lost his life, another worker sustained serious injuries, and in 2001, worker Subhash Morkar also reportedly died during the same production. During the production of Padmaavat, worker Mukesh Dakiya, aged 34, reportedly died in a workplace accident. Most recently, during the production of Love & War, Mr. Chandradhari Singh Yadav lost his life on 17 June 2026."
Demand For FIR And Independent Probe
AICWA has called for a detailed investigation into the incident and the circumstances surrounding it. The association has requested that authorities register an FIR against the producer, the production house, and any individual found responsible following the investigation.
The letter further urged the state government to conduct an independent inquiry into the matter and ensure that all safety regulations were adequately followed during the shoot.
Compensation And Long-Term Support Sought
Apart from legal action, AICWA has sought financial assistance for the bereaved family. The association has requested compensation of ₹1 crore for Yadav's family, along with employment opportunities or financial aid for his widow.
Additionally, the association has appealed for long-term support for the family, including education, welfare, and future security for his two daughters.
Call For Industry-Wide Safety Reforms
The association has also recommended suspending shooting at the concerned location until the issue is resolved. Before filming resumes, all safety requirements should be assessed and certified by the competent authorities.
Love & War, starring Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, and Vicky Kaushal, is among the most anticipated projects in Bollywood. However, the unfortunate incident has shifted attention towards worker safety and accountability within the entertainment industry.
