Tiruppur Suicide Case: Rithanya's Father Files Grievance with Chief Minister's Cell, Cites Dowry Harassment

Annadurai, a businessman from Kaikattipudur in Tiruppur, has filed a complaint with the Chief Minister's special cell. He is reportedly unhappy with the ongoing investigation and the police report submitted to the court regarding his daughter, Rithanya. Her decision to end her life and a final audio message she released had a significant impact on social media for several days, Oneindia Tamil reported.

In his complaint, Annadurai, 53, has accused his daughter's husband of dowry harassment and causing her to take her own life. He has provided a detailed written explanation to the Tamil Nadu government about the abuse his daughter suffered.

In a complaint submitted to the Home Secretary at the Secretariat yesterday, Annadurai stated that he had arranged his daughter Rithanya's marriage to Kavin, son of Eswaramoorthy and Chitradevi, on April 11, 2025.

He provided a dowry of 300 sovereigns of gold jewellery and a luxury car worth ₹62 lakhs. He alleges that after the marriage, his daughter was tortured by her husband's family for more gold and dowry.

Husband's Actions

On June 25, 2025, Rithanya returned to her parents' home from her husband's house. The next day, Kavin and his parents came to her home and asked her to return, but she refused. When her mother persisted, Rithanya broke down and recounted the abuse she endured.

She revealed that her husband frequently sexually harassed her, forced her into unnatural and degrading sexual acts, and subjected her to various other forms of cruelty.
