Survey proved CM Stalin's Breakfast scheme is highly victorious
Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister made history when he launched the Morning Breakfast scheme for government School Children from Class 1-5. This scheme was initially implemented in 1,543 government primary schools covering 1,14,095 students.
The transformation made by the Justice Party:
The Nutritional Meal scheme was implemented at the Madras Presidency school earlier in 1921 by the Justice Party, the parent body of the Dravidian Movement and all the Dravidian Political parties. To honour the evolution of this scheme in Tamilnadu for the past 100 years, CM Stalin launched this Morning Breakfast Scheme in all the Government Schools. Research suggested that many children in poor and rural areas are coming to school without consuming breakfast. This may lead to malnutrition among young children. When CM Stalin realised this he wanted to implement this Breakfast scheme in all the Government Schools.

Now, a study proved that attendance in primary schools had improved after the implementation of the Breakfast scheme. This study was conducted in all the districts of Tamilnadu.
Revolution by CM Stalin:
Out of 1,543 schools, 1,319 schools witnessed improvement in school attendance. The attendance registered during 2023 January- February is much higher than the attendance registered during the 2022 June- July period.
Government Primary Schools with Breakfast Scheme in Tirupattur, Perambalur, Ariyalur and Thiruvarur witnessed 100% attendance. Other than these four districts, Krishnagiri schools witnessed 98.5% attendance whereas Karur 97.4% and Nilgiris with 96.8% attendance. In 1,086 schools out of 1,543 schools, attendance improved by 20% at the same time 22 schools were observed to have a 40% improvement in attendance.
State Planning Commission Vice Chairman Jayaranjan says, "This survey was conducted in 1,543 schools with Students who are residing within a 2km radius from their School. We took samples from 72 Government Primary schools which have at least 25 students. We estimated that at least we would witness 75% of attendance. As we estimated, the attendance was improved only because of this Morning Breakfast scheme. This scheme benefited nearly 1.14 lakh students in the first phase and 56,000 students in the second phase.

On average this scheme benefits nearly 1.48 lakh students. This is just the first phase of our survey. We will continue our survey in the future too. As far as expenditure is concerned it takes ₹12.71 per breakfast meal. After June 2023 this scheme will be expanded throughout Tamilnadu. Research is being done to construct Kitchen Centres in various districts. The government is planning to execute the same Kitchen and Cooking procedures implemented in Urban areas to rural areas also".
The Foundation for Social Justice:
This scheme was initially launched in Finance Minister PTR Palanivel Thiyagarajan's native Madurai. He shares, "CM Stalin's Breakfast scheme that was initially launched in Madurai made tremendous changes in the education system. I felt very happy when the survey results were released. The Survey showed that attendance in schools improved by 85%. This scheme made a positive impact in all the districts. Children are our future. Working for their future will strengthen the foundation of Social Justice".
