Is Vijay's TVK Considering Joining Hands With AIADMK-BJP Alliance?

Is Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) seriously considering joining the AIADMK-led alliance in Tamil Nadu? There are hints of the concerned parties trying hard to convince the actor to join the force to unseat the DMK in the next year polls.

AIADMK and BJP's Reaction

Speaking to reporters recently, former AIADMK Minister and Kovilpatti MLA Kadambur C. Raju said: "Mr. Vijay also shares the AIADMK's view that the DMK is anti-people and needs to be removed from power. There is still one year to go before the elections and the alliance would take final shape only in January. It would not be surprising if like-minded political parties come together with the shared goal of unseating the DMK."

Similarly, BJP State president Nainar Nagenthran has repeatedly claimed that the parties should join hands despite differences to defeat the DMK in 2026 assembly polls. Also, senior leader Tamilisai Soundararajan has given a positive response to the reports of the TVK joining the NDA.

These comments are seen as an attempt to woo Vijay in order to bring him to the NDA fold, political observers say.

While Vijay has not made critical comments about the AIADMK, he has clearly stated that the DMK as its political enemy and the BJP as its ideological enemy and he would never have alliance with these partners.

As the AIADMK rejoined the NDA earlier this year, it has to be seen whether Vijay will join hands with the NDA.

Responding to the AIADMK-BJP alliance, TVK propaganda secretary A Rajmohan had earlier said as per The Hindu: "To defeat the DMK, our party would align only with the people and certainly not with a party that has joined hands with a fascist force."

Nonetheless, he made it clear that the TVK was open to alliances with any party except the DMK and the BJP.

The polls for the 234 assembly seats in Tamil Nadu will be held next year. In 2021, the DMK had defeated the AIADMK-BJP alliance.
