Wife, Mother-in-Law Kill Bengaluru Man Over Affairs, Fraud Allegations, Dump Body In Car

A Bengaluru real estate businessman was allegedly murdered by his wife and mother-in-law over suspicions of multiple extramarital affairs and illegal business activities, police said on Monday. The crime came to light when his body was discovered abandoned in a car.

The victim, identified as 37-year-old Loknath Singh, was found dead in a secluded area of Chikkabanavara on Saturday, March 22. According to police, his wife and mother-in-law first drugged him by lacing his food with sleeping pills. Once he became drowsy, they took him to an isolated location and slit his throat before fleeing.

Disturbing Discovery and Arrests

Authorities received a distress call around 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, reporting an abandoned car with a body inside. Following an investigation, police arrested Singh's wife and mother-in-law. "We have taken them into custody, and further inquiries are underway," North Bangalore Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Saidul Adavath told NDTV.

Relationship Troubles and Motive

Investigators linked the murder to suspicions of Loknath's alleged extramarital affairs and fraudulent business dealings. Police revealed that Loknath had been in a relationship with the woman for two years before secretly registering their marriage in Kunigal last December. The marriage was kept hidden from both families due to an age gap.

Shortly after the wedding, Loknath left his wife at her parents' house. It was only two weeks ago that her family learned about the marriage. Around the same time, they also found his alleged affairs and business fraud.

As tensions escalated, frequent arguments between the couple led them to consider divorce. The situation worsened when Loknath reportedly began threatening his in-laws with severe consequences. Feeling cornered, his wife and mother-in-law allegedly devised a plan to kill him.

Loknath Singh Under Fraud Investigation

Police further revealed that Loknath was under investigation by the Bengaluru Central Crime Branch for his alleged involvement in a fraud case.

The investigation into his murder is ongoing.
