When Will Bengaluru's Double-Decker Flyover On Namma Metro Lines Open?
The much-anticipated double-decker flyover in Bengaluru, connecting Ragigudda to Central Silk Board (CSB) over a stretch of 3.3 kilometres, is finally ready. But the question on everyone's mind is: when will it open to the public?
The innovative infrastructure project features two levels - the lower level, positioned eight meters above ground, designed for automobiles, and the upper level elevated 16 meters, reserved for the metro line. Once operational, it will revolutionize travel in Bengaluru, streamlining traffic between South Bengaluru and key IT hubs like Whitefield and Electronics City, offering direct access to areas such as HSR Layout and BTM Layout.

But despite the excitement, there's no official word on when the Double-Decker Flyover flyover will be open to vehicular traffic. Will it be this June or later? Only time will tell.
It must be noted that initially, vehicular movement on the Double-Decker Flyover flyover will be limited to one direction from Ragigudda to Central Silk Board (CSB), pending final inspections by authorities.
Construction of five loops and ramps at the Central Silk Board (CSB) junction is ongoing, with ramps A, B, and C expected to be operational soon. But what about ramps D and E? According to BMRCL Chief Public Relations Officer B L Yashwanth Chavan, they are slated for completion by June 2025.
As commuters eagerly await the opening of this signal-free corridor, one thing is certain - it will significantly ease traffic congestion during peak hours along the Ragigudda-CSB route. We can only hope that authorities will provide an update on the opening date soon so we can start enjoying this innovative infrastructure project!
How Will Commuters Benefit?
The new development is poised to offer substantial relief to commuters, especially during peak hours along the Ragigudda-CSB stretch. This stretch will be transformed into a signal-free corridor, significantly reducing traffic congestion. Travelers from Ragigudda can now smoothly traverse the CSB area without encountering traffic signals, facilitating a faster and more efficient route to HSR Layout and Hosur Road.
Speaking to OneIndia, Prakash, a resident of Bengaluru South, said, "I travel to Koramangala thrice a week. With this double-decker flyover, my travel time will be cut in half."
The CSB junction, known as one of Bengaluru's busiest intersections, will also see added convenience with the addition of two Metro stations: the Blue Line (CSB-KR Puram) along the Outer Ring Road and the Yellow Line (RV Road-Bommasandra). Initially, plans aimed to integrate both stations, but BMRCL officials noted that a distance of approximately 355 meters separates them. To bridge this gap, BMRCL proposes connecting the stations with a travelator, further enhancing commuter convenience and connectivity within the city.
