Karnataka Weather Update: Bengaluru’s Day Time Temperature Crosses 33°C, IMD Predicts Warm Days, Chilly Nights
As Bengaluru approaches the formal onset of summer, daytime temperatures have been climbing steadily. However, the city's nighttime chill continues to reflect lingering winter conditions.
On Thursday, Bengaluru recorded a maximum temperature of 33.3°C, which was 2.7°C above normal for this time of the year. Meanwhile, the minimum temperature dipped to 17.1°C, slightly below the usual by 0.1°C, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

The IMD also reported that maximum temperatures were above normal in Bengaluru, Chitradurga, Chintamani, and Mysuru, all part of South Interior Karnataka.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast: Warmer Days, Cool Nights
The weather department has predicted that Bengaluru's maximum and minimum temperatures will hover around 34°C and 16°C, respectively, over the weekend.
Historically, between 1990 and 2020, the city's average February temperatures have been 30.9°C (maximum) and 17.6°C (minimum). However, the past decade has seen a steady warming trend, with February maximums ranging between 33°C and 35.5°C. The minimum temperature in this period has varied from 13°C to 16.5°C.
Bengaluru's Hottest and Coldest February Days
The warmest February day on record in Bengaluru was February 17, 2005, when the city sizzled at 35.9°C. On the other hand, the coldest February day was over a century ago-February 6, 1884, when the mercury plunged to 9.6°C.
When Does Summer Begin?
In Bengaluru, summer is generally considered to begin around Maha Shivaratri, which falls on February 26 this year. The city typically sees little to no rainfall in February, making it the driest month after January.
With rising maximum temperatures and warm afternoons, Bengaluru is gradually transitioning into summer-though the cool nights still offer some respite.
