Karnataka Weather Alert: Rainy Weekend Ahead as Bengaluru Put on Yellow Alert; Check Latest IMD Forecast
Bengaluru Weather Alert: Karnataka is gearing up for a mixed weather weekend, with Bengaluru under a yellow alert as predicted by the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). Light to moderate rainfall, thunderstorms, and gusty winds are forecasted to affect the city on April 19 and 20. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued forecasts and warnings for Saturday and Sunday, urging residents to stay alert, particularly in areas prone to sudden weather changes.

Coastal Karnataka
On Saturday, April 19, light rain is likely at isolated places, primarily over Dakshina Kannada district, while Uttara Kannada and Udupi are expected to remain dry.
By Sunday, April 20, rainfall activity is set to intensify slightly, with rain or thundershowers likely at a few places in the coastal region, particularly over Dakshina Kannada. However, Udupi and Uttara Kannada may still experience dry conditions.
North Interior Karnataka
Districts in north interior parts of the state are likely to experience rain or thundershowers accompanied by strong surface winds on both days.
On Saturday, light rain with gusty winds ranging from 30 to 40 kmph is expected in Yadgir, Bidar, Kalaburgi, Gadag, and Raichur districts. Dry weather is likely to prevail over the remaining districts.
On Sunday, Bagalkote, Gadag, Dharwad, and Haveri may witness light rain or thundershowers with gusty winds up to 40 kmph, while other parts will likely remain dry.
South Interior Karnataka including Bengaluru
The southern interior regions of the state are expected to see relatively more widespread weather activity over the weekend.
Saturday will bring light to moderate rain or thundershowers, along with gusty winds (30-40 kmph) in Kodagu, Mysuru, and Hassan. Additional showers are likely over Chikkamagaluru, Ballari, Chitradurga, Chamarajanagar, Ramanagara, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Kolar, Tumakuru, and Chikkaballapura.
On Sunday, the same weather pattern will continue with increased rain activity. Light to moderate showers are likely in Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, Mysuru, and Hassan, while light rain is expected in Mandya, Ramanagara, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Urban, Bengaluru Rural, Tumakuru, Kolar, and Chikkaballapura.
Thunderstorm and Wind Warnings
The IMD has issued a thunderstorm warning, forecasting lightning over parts of Interior Karnataka on both April 19 and 20, and over Coastal Karnataka on April 20.
A gusty wind warning has also been issued for North Interior Karnataka, with wind speeds expected to reach 30-40 kmph. South Interior Karnataka will likely face similar wind conditions through the weekend.
Bengaluru Weather Forecast (April 19-21, 2025):
Cloudy skies and brief showers could offer some respite from the summer heat in the city and surrounding districts.
According to the latest BBMP and KSNDMC forecast, Bengaluru is set to experience varying levels of rainfall over the next three days, with yellow and orange weather alerts in effect.

On April 19, rain activity will increase, bringing light to moderate showers to several parts of the city including Mahadevapura, West, and South zones.
This trend is expected to continue on April 20 as well, with moderate rain likely in eastern and central zones.
While no heavy rainfall is predicted, residents are advised to plan travel accordingly and stay alert to local updates as this is a pilot forecast model.
