Kalladka Flyover on NH-75 to Open June 2: Bengaluru to Mangaluru Traffic to Ease
The Bengaluru to Mangaluru side of the Kalladka flyover on National Highway-75 (NH-75) will be opened for vehicles starting June 2, according to Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta.
The flyover is 2.1 km long and part of the bigger highway expansion project to ease travel between Bengaluru and Mangaluru.

In addition, two-lane underpasses at Mani and Uppinangady on the same highway will be opened for use starting Thursday, the MP said in a press note.
Monsoon Travel Woes Prompt Action
With early monsoon rains hitting Dakshina Kannada, many people have been facing difficulties traveling on this stretch of NH-75. Work is still going on to expand the road to four lanes, and the bad weather has made travel even harder.
To reduce the inconvenience, Capt. Chowta said that the matter was raised with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and key parts of the road are being opened to ease traffic flow.
Fixing Water Problem Near B.C. Road
A major issue is waterlogging at Thumbe, near B.C. Road. To solve this, the NHAI is building a pipe system to allow rainwater to drain out. This work is expected to help a lot during heavy rains, and once complete, will bring relief to regular travelers on the highway.
How Much Work is Done?
According to the MP, most of the project is close to completion.
From Addahole to Periyashanthi (15.13 km), around 95% of the work is done.
From Periyashanthi to B.C. Road (48.48 km), about 86% is completed.
Project Started in 2017
The road-widening work first began in 2017. The NHAI had chosen Larsen and Toubro (L&T) to build the new four-lane highway from B.C. Road to Addahole (Gundya).
Later, L&T left the project, and the work was split into two parts.
The Periyashanthi to Addahole stretch, which goes through forest areas, was given to S.M. Autade Pvt. Ltd with a budget of ₹400 crore.
The stretch between B.C. Road and Periyashanthi, covering a longer distance, was awarded to KNR Constructions for ₹1,100 crore.
A Flyover with 70+ Pillars
The Kalladka flyover, built with over 70 support pillars, is one of the most important parts of this entire project. Once the other side of the flyover (Mangaluru to Bengaluru side) is also opened, it will greatly improve travel along this busy route.
