BMRCL Imposes Rs 10,000 Fine After Video Shows Man Misbehaving With Woman On Namma Metro
The Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) is taking a stern stance against violence, exemplified by imposing a substantial fine of Rs 10,000 on a man found guilty of misbehaving with a female passenger. According to reports from Bangalore Mirror, the incident occurred on January 2 at Nadaprabhu Kempegowda station, where a male passenger subjected a female commuter to sexual harassment.
The video capturing the entire episode quickly spread across social media platforms, prompting public outcry and demands for action against the offender. Later, a police complaint was filed in response to the incident.

In response to the situation, the BMRCL, under the Metro Railways (Operation and Maintenance) Act 2002, sections 59, 60, and 64, imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the accused individual. This marks the first instance of such a substantial fine being levied by the BMRCL.
The BMRCL has also issued a statement indicating that passengers found guilty of engaging in indecent behavior will face a similar fine of Rs 10,000. They said the importance of immediate reporting of any harassment incidents by women to station controllers, encouraging swift action against such offenses.
