Cricket Australia Offers Pat Cummins Rs 113 Crore To Reject SRH’s Rs 63 Crore IPL Mega Deal, Will He Accept?

Australia captain Pat Cummins is reportedly set to receive a massive long-term contract from Cricket Australia as the board looks to secure the future of its biggest multi-format stars amid growing interest from franchise leagues around the world. The deal, believed to be worth nearly USD 12 million over three years, comes at a time when reports have also linked Cummins with a gigantic IPL-related offer that could have seen him step away from international cricket commitments.

Cricket Australia Looking To Secure Multi-Format Stars

According to a report by Sydney Morning Herald, Cummins has been offered a three-year agreement worth USD 4 million annually, which roughly converts to Rs 113 crore overall. The proposed contract is reportedly aimed at ensuring the fast-bowling all-rounder continues prioritising Australian cricket, especially Test matches.

The development comes shortly after reports claimed that an IPL franchise had offered Cummins an AUD 10 million deal to leave international cricket and exclusively participate in franchise T20 leagues across the globe.

Cricket Australia head of cricket James Allsopp admitted that retaining elite players in the current market has become increasingly challenging due to the financial power of franchise tournaments.

"Absolutely. They've earned the right, they've been long-term performers for Australia across formats for a long period of time. There's only so far you can take them under the current constraints. That's definitely a priority at the moment."

Growing Pressure From Franchise Cricket

Allsopp also highlighted how players like Cummins remain in huge demand because of their ability to perform across all formats of the game.

"It is a really tricky balancing act. One thing we do know is that the market pressure is coming at the players who drive the most commercial value. Your multi-format players like Pat, Josh [Hazlewood] and Trav, there's a lot of demand for those players. So ensuring they remain committed to Australian cricket is a really big priority," he added.

The report further stated that the higher financial package for Cummins would not necessarily depend on the number of matches he plays for Australia.

Cummins Shines As SRH Beat Punjab Kings

Meanwhile, Cummins continued his impressive run in IPL 2026 with Sunrisers Hyderabad as the side defeated Punjab Kings by 33 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Wednesday.

Despite a fighting unbeaten century from Cooper Connolly, Punjab Kings fell short as Hyderabad climbed to the top of the IPL points table.

Cummins played a key role with the ball and was named Player of the Match after helping SRH defend a challenging total. Following the victory, the Australian skipper praised both the batting unit and the bowlers for executing their plans under pressure.

"I think Punjab are a really good side, they were number one coming into this. I thought the batters to get up to what we did was sensational. I think that and then to close it out, no matter what the score is, bowling second against a side like that is always tough, but I thought we were quite clinical," Cummins said at the post-match presentations.
