The allocation of ministries reflects a strategic balancing of veteran leadership and coalition interests. Ramesh Chennithala, a heavyweight in the Congress party and a contender for the CM postpremiership, has been entrusted with the high-stakes Home and Vigilance portfolios.
The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), the second-largest constituent in the UDF with 22 seats, has been rewarded with a broad range of modern economic and industrial sectors. Senior leader PK Kunhalikutty will spearhead Industries and Commerce, Information Technology and Artificial Intelligence and Startups, Mining, and Geology.
The coalition's smaller partners also secured vital roles. Shibu Baby John of the Revolutionary Socialist Party (RSP) will manage Forests, Wildlife Protection, and Skill Development. Meanwhile, Mons Joseph is tasked with overseeing Irrigation, Housing, and Water Supply.
With the ministerial team now fully assigned, the Satheesan-led government faces the immediate challenge of implementing its manifesto after a decade of LDF governance. The focus now shifts to the first session of the new assembly, where the UDF's legislative agenda will be put to the test.
