Farmers' appeal to Tamil Nadu Govt

Tiruchirapalli, Jun 22: Farmers' wing of the Tiruchirapalli unit of the Congress today appealed to the Tamil Nadu Government to release water through Uyyakondan and its 18 sub canals to plantations in different parts of the district.

Farmers' Wing president A Nagarajan, in a statement here today, said banana, sugarcane, cotton and vegetables cultivated in about 50,000 acres in the district were in a withering condition due to lack of irrigated water.
