Woman faces trial for burning baby to death in microwave

California, Feb 24: A Californian woman will face trial on charges of killing her seven-week-old daughter by placing her in a microwave oven for two minutes and letting her burn to death .

Meanwhile, prosecutors claim that, if convicted, the accused may be sentenced to life in prison and not death, without the possibility of parole.

The prosecution alleged that she placed the child in the microwave as she was being irritable and fussy holding her back from work. The police had arrested the mother-of-four in June last year.

The trial date has not yet been set. The accused said that it was due to her client's history of seizures - which she has been suffering from more than six years - that made her kill her own baby. Meanwhile, the woman said that she will defend herself in the court.
