KBC promo: Amitabh Bachchan insults Netaji? faces legal row

Amitabh Bachchan
Mumbai, Jul 4: Bollywood superstar Amitabh Bachchan landed in a fresh legal trouble after a Public Interest Litigation (PIL) has been filed against the actor and TV channel - Sony Entertainment.

Chief Justice Mohit Shah and Justice GS Godbole moved the Bombay High Court and filed a PIL against Big B and Sony TV claiming that the promo for the upcoming season of the reality gameshow - Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) allegedly insulted India's famous freedom fighter Subhash Chandra Bose alias Netaji.

The promotional ad captures Netaji's popular slogan - Tum mujhe khoon do, main tumhe azadi doonga (Give me blood, I'll give you freedom). The petitioners claimed that the promotional ad for KBC4 is insulting, defamatory and maligning to the slogan. The court has asked the Bollywood actor and the channel to file their replies by Jul 28.

In the promotional ad, Bachchan is seen asking a child "who said this? -- You give me blood and I will give you freedom" and the child replies "just now you said it" and then stops in a confused state of mind. Bachchan tells him, "somewhere you have heard this".

The actor then tells viewers, "Ladies and gentlemen from the start I have been saying that any question cannot be small."

In yet another scene, two patients donating blood ask the doctor, "You took our blood. When will you give freedom?" and they laugh loud.

In another scene, a student kills a mosquito which sat on his forearm and says, "You drank my blood and I will give you freedom."
