TN polls: EC takes action against two police officials

Chennai, Mar 30: The Election Commission today transferred two police officials from Cheyyar in Tiruvannamalai district for having failed to prevent an "unauthorised political meeting,".

The meeting was held in an educational institution in the guise of a Parent Teachers Association meeting.

K Rajendran, DSP, and Inspector S Nagarajan have been replaced by R Pandiarajan and K Ramamurthy respectively, an official release here said.

Nagarajan was under suspension, the release said, adding, the two had "failed to prevent an unauthorised political meeting held in an educational institution in the guise of a Parent Teachers Association meeting recently."

Tamil Nadu goes to polls on April 13.
