Smooch-denied 92-year old woman fires at neighbour

Florida, Mar 25: Just how far can you go for a kiss? Well, imagine you are almost 92 years of age and want a kiss from a much younger neighbour. What will you do if denied the bliss of that much solicited smooch? Can you shoot his head off?

This is what seems to have happened in a neighbourhood of Florida, where Helen Staudinger, a 92-year old woman shot four-times from her semi-automatic pistol at the house of a 53-year old neighbour who refused to kiss her.

Staudinger is now languishing in Jail and faces trial on charges of aggravated assault with a lethal weapon.

According to a report by Reuters, Bettner, the 53-year old neighbour felt that her elderly neighbour was attracted to him since he moved in to the house some six months ago. He is unsure of the reasons for her attraction.

Bettner had an altercation with Staudinger when the latter came up to the former's house on the afternoon of Mar 21 and refused to leave unless she gets a kiss. According to Reuters, Bettner has informed Marion County Sheriff's deputies that Staudinger, despite being informed by him that he had a girl-friend, didn't leave and threatened to shoot him.

According to the report, Bettner was busy on the phone with his father when she shot at his house and informed that even one bullet went through his window. Staudinger, has on her part said that she fired at Bettner's new Mitsubishi 3000GT, a car "that he loved so much."
