Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 unveiled: Specs, Review & Price

Samsung unveiled the new Galaxy Tab 8.9 after a series of leaks and rumors. This new Android tablet will be compete with other tablets in the 8.9 screen size segments. So, those who complaints about the bigger screen size of Motorola Xoom, Apple iPad 2 and Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 can go for this thinner tablet.
When the Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced the innovative iPad 2, we were delighted for its thinner and lighter design. But with the 8.9-inch Galaxy Tab, Samsung has gone further forth and made it more lighter and simpler than its rival iPad 2. This new tablet has just 8.6 mm thickness and weighs 470 grams only, making it the ultra-portable tablet ever.
Samsung's new Galaxy Tab has a 8.9-inch Capacitive touchscreen with 1200x800 pixel resolution. This tablet runs on Android 3.0 Honeycomb operating system powered with 1GHz dual core processor, making it one of the fastest tablets available in the gadget market.
Samsung packed new TouchWiz 4.0 user interface specifically designed for Android 3.0 on this tablet. This special UI provides features like Live Panel, a customizable home screen with content that can be easily accessed and moved, a Mini Apps Tray that brings Calendar, Memo Pad, World Clock, Calculator together, and a social hub that integrates social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, etc into a single interface.
Samsung Galaxy Tab 8.9 has a 3 megapixel rear-facing camera and a 2 megapixel front-facing camera for video calling. This tablet is powered of playing 1080p HD videos and offers web browser supports Adobe Flash 10.2 for rich multimedia web browsing. Other features include dual Wi-Fi antennas that supports both 2GHz and 5GHz frequency bands.

Pricing & Availability:
Samsung has revealed the price of Wi-Fi models only. The 16 GB Wi-Fi model will be available at $469 and the 32 GB Wi-Fi version is priced at $569. Samsung said that the Galaxy Tab 10.1 will hit the markets on Jun 6, 2011 and the 8.9 models by early summer. Stay tuned for hands-on review.
