Apple iPad 2: Review - All You Want to Know
The rumors on iPad 2 started doing rounds Immediately after the launch of the first generation iPad and it continued till hours before the unveiling the iPad 2. Even though most of us managed to hear the rumored specs of iPad 2, Apple once again succeeded in keeping the secrets behind.
The much awaited Apple iPad 2 was showcased by the 'ailing' Apple co-founder and CEO Steve Jobs on Wednesday, Mar 2 during a special Apple event at San Francisco. Despite of his health rumors, Steve Jobs, who took indefinite medical leave in Jan 2011, looked more energetic and jested saying that he "didn't want to miss today." It suggests that Apple has been working on this device long back.
The new Apple iPad2 is more thinner, faster and lighter. Apple revamped the device with exciting features and announced that the iPad 2 is ready to compete with rival "copy cats" like Motorola Xoom, Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1, RIM PlayBook, HP TouchPad and much more.
The all new iPad 2 has a dual core A5 processor that offers blazing fast performance and stunning graphics. Moving ahead of the Google Android 3.0 Honeycomb OS, the new iPad will also run a fresh version of Apple's mobile operating system software, iOS 4.3. This new OS offers AirPlay feature that lets users wirelessly stream multimedia content to an HDTV through an optional Apple TV box. Other additional features of iOS 4.3 include iTunes Home Sharing, faster Safari web browser, Personal Hotspot etc.
Apple maintained the 9.7-inch LED-backlit LCD screen on second generation iPad. But, it's enough powerful to compete with other tablets that offer 10-inch screens. Te most important feature on iPad 2 is its front and rear facing cameras. The rear facing camera is capable of recording 720p HD video up to 30 frames per second with audio and supports still camera with 5x digital zoom. The front facing VGA camera supports FaceTime and Photo Booth.
With the new front and rear cameras, iPad 2 users can now make FaceTime calls to millions of iPhone 4, iPod touch and Mac users so they can see family and friends anywhere there is Wi-Fi. Photo Booth lets users apply fun visual effects, including eight photo special effects like Squeeze, Twirl and Kaleidoscope, to photos captured by either camera.
Apple also introduced two new apps, iMovie and GarageBand for iPad, both available on the App Store for just $4.99 each. Another additional feature is the iPad 2 Smart Cover that acts as a protection to the screen and a stand for typing or viewing videos.
