Developmental politics to ensure public welfare: Kalam
Kottayam, Feb 20 (PTI) Stressing the need to shift topolitics of development from politics being practised today,former president A P J Abdul Kalam said developmental politicswould ensure public welfare.
Delivering K R Narayanan memorial lecture after presenting KR Narayanan award to Jnanpith award winner and eminentMalayalam poet O N V Kurup, Kalam said opportunity to servethe country has been given by people and Parliament has tocarry on the mission to achieve the prosperity.
Speaking at another function at Amal Jyothi College ofEngineering in Kanjirapally here, he said a nation which givesimportance to fundamental research in science would be aheadof others in technology.
Speaking at the silver jubilee celebration of DarsanaCultural Centre here, he said every civilised society liveswith a clear perception for future. Each individual shouldpractice noble ideals of constructive tolenrance, positivefellow feeling and total commitment to the ideals of liveand let live.
Kalam said righteousness was one of the key components ofknowledge and the other being creativity and courage to thinkdifferently.
Later Kalam interacted with the students participated inStudent Empowerment for Environmental Development programme,organised by Malayalam daily Mathrubhoomi.
